Blackstar HTDUAL VALVE Two Channel Distortion Pedal ***

Review - Blackstar HTDUAL VALVE Two Channel Distortion Pedal ***You have got to check out this pedal for yourself.

Sound Quality: 10
Squire Strat into PC via Line 6 UX2 Tone port & Blackstar. I have a Blackstar HT-DistX & Blackstar HT-Dual I often listen to Allan Holdsworth & Eric Johnson. When I finally get round to buying a Carvin Holdsworth HF2 model guitar, it'll be interesting to see how that sounds through the Blackstar’s. I have high hopes for it.

Reliability: 10
Very solid construction. I can't imagine this pedal being unreliable. It's beautifully engineered in a handsome chunky metal case. Very good value.

in these improvisations I mostly use the Blackstar HT-Dual either on clean or crunch mode. On the more overdriven tracks???I'm using the Blackstar HT-DistX. The overdrive 'channel 2' on the Dual is close to the overdrive of the DistX, but I have a slight preference for using the HT-DistX for overdriven sound. In each case running into my 'Line 6 UX 2' which is there mainly for reverb & subtle chorus plus serving as PC input. The tone comes largely from the Blackstar pedals.
Not surprisingly I don't think you can beat a real tube as opposed to a digital amp modeler to get the sound, dynamics & responsiveness of a tube amp. If that weren't the case I could rely on the UX2's valve amp modeling, but it's not the same. With the Blackstar's just dig the pick in & let your finger brush the string behind the plectrum & out come those lovely chiming second harmonics. I also have a Vox Tonelab & a Hughes & Kettner Tubeman which are good too, but find I use the Blackstar pedals nearly all the time for their superb tone. I really like them.
Though sometimes I use both. For example 'Blecks in Nay' & 'Etude in a non Gambale style of Blouse' & 'Swishing Well of Bubbling Spitting Lava' were recorded with the Blackstar HT-DistX running into the Vox Tonelab then the UX2 to PC.
